Born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan in the 60’s, Isamu Katayama developed an interest in leather from an early age that stemmed from his and his father’s passion for motorbikes. He went on to move to Tokyo in 1983 and worked as a leather bag manufacturer, developing skills he would later use for his future brand. He created the brand ‘Isamu Katayama Backlash’ in 1999, his first runway was 5 years later in Paris, SS04. A film was released about his life and his work in 2009, named ‘Artisanal Life’ directed by Koichi Makino, this was filmed over a 2 year period in multiple countries.

A pair of slightly flared, dark burgundy, 5 pocket pants. These have one of the nicest washes i’ve ever seen, especially on corduroy pants. There is some distressing on the left thigh area which is patched on the inside, on the opposing thigh there are leather patches, these are also on the back of the pants too.
